The Choir...
The Cypress Masterworks Chorale, now in its 27th season
under the direction of Dr. Sheridan J. Ball, is one of Southern California's
most successful and respected choral organizations. Verdi's Requiem adds
to the choir's vast performance repertoire which includes the Mozart Requiem,
Handel's Messiah, Carmina Burana, the Bach Magnificat and
Christmas Oratorio, Brahms Requiem, Poulenc Gloria, Vaughan
Williams' Dona Nobis Pacem, Beethoven's Mass In C, Stravinsky's
Symphony of Psalms, Faure Requiem, Rutter Gloria, Bach
Mass in B-minor, Britten War Requiem and many others.
The choir is routinely featured at numerous prestigious
concert halls including the Orange County Performing Arts Center and the Hollywood
Bowl, and has performed internationally in such celebrated venues as England’s
Winchester Cathedral, the Vatican in Rome and Carnegie Hall in New York. Extensive
performance tours have taken the choir to England, Scotland, Ireland, France,
Germany, Austria, Switzerland, Hungary, Italy, Greece, Israel, Russia, Mexico,
Australia and New Zealand. Plans are currently underway for a China tour in
the summer of 2008.

The Director...
A Nebraska native, Dr. Sheridan Ball completed his undergraduate studies at the
University of Northern Colorado and, after successful teaching posts in Kansas
and Illinois, returned to Colorado to complete a Master of Music degree in Choral
Literature and Conducting. Sheridan’s performance experience includes the Kansas
City Philharmonic Chorus, Los Angeles Opera, Los Angeles Master Chorale, Pacific
Chorale, and the William Hall Chorale, where he was the Associate Director for
three years. Sheridan assumed responsibility for the Cypress College choral programs
in 1981 and has since taken it from conception to its current standing as one of the
most successful community based programs in the area.
Dr. Ball received his doctorate in Conducting from the University of Southern
California in 1995. In addition to extensive choral activities, Dr. Ball continues
his role of Professor and Director of Choral Music at Cypress College in Orange County,
California and, most recently, has accepted a MidAmerica Productions assignment as
Associate Conductor at Carnegie Hall in New York.
